CRAZY TOWN Urge 'Peace And Love' On New CD

CRAZY TOWN have emerged as unlikely political spokesmen by voicing concerns about the possibility of war in Iraq on their forthcoming album, "Darkhorse".

In sharp contrast to the L.A. band's reputation as testosterone-laden jocks, the album finds co-vocalist Epic Mazur using the lyric: "Everybody hungers peace but they thirst war" on a track called "Candy Coated". Further anti-war sentiments are expressed by former HOUSE OF PAIN rapper Danny Boy, who invokes the classic "peacenik" slogan "Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity" during his guest spot on the album.

"Fighting for peace makes no sense to us whatsoever," co-vocalist Shifty Shellshock told Kerrang!. "I think that whoever did the terrorist acts (of September 11) needs to be stopped and taken care of, but I don't think war is the answer. If we went to Iraq and started a war, we wouldn't be killing who we were after, we'd be killing a lot of innocent people who don't even really know what they're supposed to stand for. People over there are mad at us and we'd be giving them more reasons to be mad at us by killing their families. Everybody in the world wants peace, but at the same time, we're shooting ourselves in the foot."

Acknowledging that the sentiments expressed on "Darkhorse" are a marked departure from the cocky lyrical bragging on "The Gift Of Game", Shellshock admitted to Kerrang!, "We're a little less young and obnoxious now, a little bit more refined and defined. On this record we're questioning ourselves and we're not saying we know everything."
